If you are a fashion-conscious British girl, you are probably wondering about the rest of the year and trends in clothing and accessories. You’ll be happy to hear that we have some confidential information about the UK summer/autumn collection to give you an insight into what chic girls are wearing this year.

  • Smart casual business suit – Either a pencil skirt or straight-cut trousers, with fine English tweed and a pair of leather brogue shoes. The 21st century female entrepreneur is both elegant and sophisticated and with a slick briefcase, you will be ready for that all-important business presentation.
  • Festival outfits – A short skirt and skimpy top is what cool girls will be wearing at pop concerts and festivals; black, white and metallic are all popular colours for this year’s festival outfits that you can find with the online fashion store. Concerts are also a time to sport that LBD, complete with sterling silver jewellery and a pair of hiking boots; take some leggings if the temperatures drop.
  • High rise trousers – We had low-slung hipsters last year so this year it is a high waistline that is in vogue. Corduroy is a rich fabric and with deep side pockets and you can wear platforms to lift the hems off the ground. Embellished pants are everywhere, with Art Deco-rich colours on display and you might even see sequins.
  • Elevated sportswear – Baggy tracksuit bottoms with neon green or pink socks and white Nike trainers, while a hoodie can be worn over an extra-large T-shirt. Headbands and wristbands add to the look, plus chunky silver jewellery is fine if you’re not playing sports. This is the year of fitness and the global trend for toned bodies doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere, at least for a couple of years.
  • Metallic cocktail dresses – If it’s party time and you want to be the centre of attention, wear a sexy metallic cocktail dress. High heels and a shawl to keep your shoulders warm, with a designer clutch bag to store your stuff. This is a time to wear your diamond jewellery to add a touch of sophistication to your glitzy look.
  • Micro shorts – The smaller the better; white, cream, pink and violet are pride colours, with a contrasting belt; sheer tights and short white socks bring on a summery feel. Tank tops are back with a bang, with the colours of the rainbow; ideal for the summer.
  • Camo cargo shorts – Still in trend, army-issue camo cargo shorts are very popular this year; a thick leather belt embellished with metal engravings and an oversized T-shirt to complete the look. Military gear is also back this year, with camo waistcoats and baseball caps; khaki long cargo pants are perfect for colder days, preferably worn with hiking boots or Dr Martens.
  • Faux fur – Have you seen the latest generation of faux fur waistcoats? Smart and very elegant, this number is ideal for those chilly mornings; it can be worn with a long-sleeved sweater or shirt. If you would like to view stunning fur waistcoats, Google is your best friend and can take you to a leading UK designer boutique that has the latest collections of trendy garments. Faux fur boots are seen in Paris, so we might see them in the UK autumn collection; check out the top fashion mags for more details on faux fur.
  • Drop waists – Slinky long dresses with a slanted drop waist brings a refreshing new look, almost on a par with the hippy era, flowery accessories and natural jewellery complete this cool look. Check out Cosmopolitan and Vogue UK for some hi-res images of young couples partying in West London and you are sure to see drop waistlines; leggings are one accessory for the chilly evenings that go with this look.

Of course, we are all unique, so do bear that in mind and choose garments that fit with your personality.
