Property

You must remember your parents telling you from a very young age that as long as you had a roof over your head then everything in life would be okay. Owning your first property is something that everyone dreams about here in Thailand but many fail to get themselves onto the first rung of the ladder. If you have managed to secure your first property then you are to be congratulated for that but with it, comes an incredible amount of responsibility because your property won’t look after itself.

There is so much maintenance involved in taking care of any home from the inside and outside and especially so when it comes to the roof over your head. There is so much that could be going on up there that you will be unaware of and there is no way that you can see anything just by standing in front of your property and looking up. This is why it makes sense to take the time and to research when it comes to any roof installation service because contrary to what many people believe, all the providers are not exactly the same.

The following are just some of the most common roofing issues that they will be looking out for on your property.

  1. Roof leaks that need attention – Your roof can start teeth for a number of reasons but the one thing to take away from all of this is a it is not something that you keep putting off until tomorrow. If the rainwater gets through to the inside of the roof then you could be in real trouble. Water damage costs a lot of money to fix and so the roofing professionals will be looking for leaks around places like your chimney if you have one, around your gutters and around your skylight if you have one.
  2. Damaged roof tiles – It is pretty difficult to spot roof tiles that can get damaged or loose and it really does take a trained eye to spot such things. During your retirement, roof tiles can get damaged and come loose due to being struck by a branch that was ripped off the tree during particularly strong storm. Many service providers always have the popular roof tiles in stock, so it is likely that they will be able to replace them as they see them.
  3. Gutters that are clogged up – During the course of any year and through the seasons, your gutters get filled up with all manner of things including leaves, twigs and even dead animals. Your roof relies on this drainage system to take the water away from the surface and if your guttering is clogged up then this can lead to more blockages and things rotting on your roof. It’s important that all of this debris is cleared away as soon as possible.
  4. Issues with pests – We get our fair share of critters here in Thailand and they always seem to be causing problems for homeowners. Some examples would be pigeons, squirrels and mice and rats. Once they get into your roof space, they can cause an incredible amount of damage and all they need is a little gap on the roof somewhere due to shrinkage, to make their way into your property and to start chewing through everything. These pests cause thousands of dollars in damage all across Thailand every single year and so you need to get them removed as soon as possible.
  5. Poor maintenance practices – Many people like yourself, just assume that the roof will take care of itself when it does need some help along the way. You can’t expect anything in your life to work properly if you don’t take care of it and there could be a lot going on up there that has occurred over a number of years that needs attention. This why you need to make sure that you carry out regular roof inspections so you can get out in front of any issues before they become much bigger problems later on.

Your home is likely to be the single biggest investment that will make in your life and so it makes perfect sense that you would want to protect the thing that you going to be paying a mortgage on for the next 35 years of your life. If your roof has not been checked in some time then you need to call out the professionals as soon as possible to make sure that the very thing that is protecting your family is in great shape. If the property was not new when you bought it then it may not have been installed properly from the very beginning and so getting it checked will help you to avoid unnecessary expenditure.
