Shedding Light on Increasing Storage, Hobby, and Work Space in Your Home

Whether your family is growing with a new baby, elders are moving in to save on senior living, or you need more space for hobbies or a business, your home is not big enough. To meet these needs will you buy, sell, and move, or update your current property?

Homes for sale stay on the market for an average of 31 days. That is not long enough to market the property. Today buyers have to be funded and waiting in the market, with a finger on the pulse, ready to pounce on anything. 

This problem will continue for years as building materials are scarce and expensive, the trades labour pool is underdeveloped & understaffed, and even with government incentivization, we fall short of new home construction targets. 

More often people are expanding their current home or updating their property with gazebos, cabanas, gardening, storage, and other types of rural sheds. Made of wood or metal, these small to large structures can be added to your property for diverse uses.

• The remote work trend is causing many of us to create offices or spaces so we can focus on our careers and income at home. A custom shed could be your home office away from home and office, designed specifically to suit your needs.
• Maybe you are into crafting and what was once a hobby has become a small business. An outbuilding like a shed will give you ample secure storage for all your materials, and a place to concentrate without disturbance. 
• I had one room in my house that was a storage room until I put a small shed outside. I gained that room back to use for my college daughter who is moving home. 
• If you are big into potting, sustenance farming, or like to play in the dirt, a garden or potting shed will keep chemicals safe from kids and pets while cleaning up yard clutter.

• If you have a collector car, you can keep it away from damaging elements and wondering eyes by securing it in a shed. For that matter, my daily driver ute was expensive and I’d like to protect it.

Certain shed types are approved for use as a spare room. I think any type of shed would be excellent family pet housing, but maybe you want a room to escape to for yourself. Always check your state or territory building codes authorize out-structures and the criteria for safe construction.
